This project involved a complete remodel, reconfiguring the bedrooms and bathrooms to suit the needs of the new owners and their family. Structural modifications were necessary for the building, originally constructed in 1925. Enhancements included the addition of a covered pergola, as well as remodeling and expanding the guest quarters connected to the garage. We played a key role in site and landscape planning, working alongside Garden Studio Design, who led the design of the outdoor living spaces. The remodel preserved all the property’s mature oak trees, a defining feature of the unique Pasadena character.
The home was reclad with new lap siding, and updates included a new roof, front porch, and all new steel doors and windows. Interior design was executed in collaboration with Brooke Wagner, aligning spatial layouts with their vision. Our permitting process encompassed site analysis, zoning constraints, hillside regulations, and ADU ordinance compliance. Modifications to the building’s massing included small adjustments to the second-story bedrooms, large courtyard windows in the kitchen, and the replacement of the study’s walls with full-height glass windows. These changes honor the home’s character while introducing contemporary elements.
