PECK STRUCTURAL and PECK CIVIL provided structural and civil designs for the rehabilitation of the historic Whittier Train Depot — known as Guilford Hall. During the night on Friday, March 4, 2016, the historic three level building was transported 3,000 feet from its former location on Whittier College to its new home as part of an affordable housing complex across from the Whittier Hilton Hotel.
The City of Whittier contributed over $4 million in land and money to ensure not only that Guilford Hall was preserved but to create nine units of affordable housing a reality in Uptown. Guilford Hall will be part of an 11 unit condominium project. Nine of those units will be affordable housing. Guilford Hall will be renovated to form two housing units and serve as the backdrop and focal point for nine additional homes, bringing new home ownership and life to Whittier. Go to project page.
